Eight years building the media operation for one of Chicago's largest urban churches — from a single camera to a team.
I joined as the sole videographer and grew into Media Director, running production for a church of 2,000+ members reaching 13,000+ people through media. Sundays meant directing live, multi-camera broadcasts. The rest of the week meant testimonials, documentaries, music videos, and everything social — sourced, shot, and cut start to finish. This New Year's Eve broadcast is one snapshot of that: directing cameras for a live service, then cutting the whole thing for air.
As the work grew past what one person could carry, I recruited and trained the creative and technical teams that took it on — built the digital asset and delivery workflow from scratch, and led people, not just projects. Every piece of it, from a Sunday broadcast to a single testimonial, was in service of the same three things:
That mission is what the work actually served — not views, not polish for its own sake. Building a team good enough that the work didn't need me in the room was the real measure of the job.
